UNICA is the largest representative organization of the sugar, ethanol and bioenergy sector in Brazil
Mills affiliated with the Brazilian Sugarcane and Bioenergy Industry Association (UNICA) account for over 54% of Brazil’s sugarcane production, 51% of ethanol output – including 34% of corn-based ethanol production – 52% of sugar production and nearly 50% of the bioelectricity supplied to the National Interconnected System (SIN).
In the 2024/2025 harvest, Brazil produced 679.68 million tons of sugarcane, the raw material used to generate 44 million tons of sugar, 37.3 billion liters of ethanol (including 29.1 billion liters produced from sugarcane and 8.2 billion liters from corn), and 21TWh of electricity for the national grid.
